I never got why the rising sun symbol from Imperial Japan seems to be okay to use but the Nazi flag is a giant no-go. Shouldn’t they both be viewed the same?

Imagine someone painting a giant Nazi symbol on the hood of an old German car...I don’t think it would go over well.

To be fair, though, it’s in South Asia or India...can’t remember but for some reason they have this thing called “Nazi Chic” in that part of the world.

The rising flag is ok because it’s still used by Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. This flag is exactly the same that Imperial Japanese Navy used. The Ground Self-Defense Force use different version but it’s still a rising sun flag too.

I believe that is also only Naval.
